Accessibility
This site is built to work with a keyboard, a screen reader, enlarged text and reduced motion. What we have done for that, and what is still open, is set out here.
Target level
The target is WCAG 2.2 at level AA. That is the yardstick we measure this site against. We do not claim audited conformance: there has been no external audit and no testing with people who rely on assistive technology. What follows is the state of our own checking.
What was measured
Checked on 21 September 2026 with axe-core 4.10 across the home page, the overview page, chapter pages, the contact form, the download area and the trust center, each in light and dark appearance and in both languages, plus the state with the menu open and with the settings dialogue open. Result: no violations.
In addition every colour pair is calculated rather than estimated. Text must reach 4.5 on each of the three surface levels, surfaces and controls 3.0 against the page background. Several values in the inherited design system fell short, among them the muted text colour in both appearances. They have been corrected for this site.
An automated test finds only part of the problems. It replaces neither an audit by a testing body nor testing with people who depend on assistive technology.
What is in place
- Usable without a mouse. Every function is reachable by keyboard, the focus is visible, and a skip link leads past the navigation straight to the content.
- Two appearances. Light and dark can be chosen, and with no choice made the operating system setting decides. Both have been checked for contrast.
- Scales up. Font sizes are given in relative units. Anyone zooming in the browser or running a larger system font gets larger text, not just a larger picture.
- Less motion. Anyone who has set reduced motion in their operating system gets no transitions and no smooth scrolling.
- Readable without JavaScript. The content sits in the delivered HTML. Only the menu on narrow screens needs JavaScript, and every link in it also appears in the footer.
- Language marked up. Every page carries its language, and the language switcher marks up where each entry leads. Screen readers change pronunciation accordingly.
- Structure, not just looks. Headings are headings, lists are lists, navigation regions are named. Source order matches reading order.
Known limitations
- No external audit. An audit by a testing body and testing with users of assistive technology are still outstanding.
- Not all languages yet. This site is currently available in German and English. Further languages are planned.
- PDF files in the download area. The material there has not been checked for accessibility. If you need the content in an accessible form, write to us and we will supply it.
Reporting problems
If you come across something you cannot operate, please write to office@sinnograte.at. Tell us the page, your assistive technology and what did not work. We reply within two working days and say by when we will fix it.
