The dimmable heat pump

APIs through which grid operators can shed and shift load. Where the plant allows it, not across the board.

  • One integration instead of one per device and operator
  • Flexibility markets access for your end customers
  • Regulation aware along the rules of each country

What the platform offers the grid

Grid operators can shed and shift load through APIs. The plant has a say: reduction happens where the operating state allows it, not uniformly across the fleet.

What that means for you as a manufacturer

Regulatory requirements for controllable consumption devices apply to your equipment whether or not you are prepared for them. The alternative to a platform integration is your own connection per device and per grid operator.

There is a second side to it: your end customers gain access to flexibility markets and grid operator tariffs.

Who this does not concern

Controllable loads are electrical loads. A biomass or pellet boiler is not one, and this chapter does not apply to it. Everything else in the platform applies there unchanged, see Biomass and pellets.

Rules

The relevant rules are section 14a EnWG in Germany, the EAG in Austria and the requirements of the respective grid operators. HVACloud implements them technically. We do not offer a legal interpretation, that belongs with your type approval.

In Germany subsidy eligibility has hung on this since July 2026: the federal subsidy requires an interoperable interface under section 14a, in EEBUS format from July 2027. EEBUS is implemented in HVACloud, ahead of that deadline. What that means for manufacturers is under Staying eligible.
