The next generation of equipment, without waiting on outside help

How do I get my next generation of equipment running without waiting on outside help?

Protocols are built in, discovery finds the data points, templates apply per device type instead of per plant. What you change goes into the field over the air.

An engineer in a high visibility vest checking data on a laptop, two outdoor units beside him against a wall in the evening light.

The usual route, and what it hangs on

A new generation of equipment today usually means: build a register table, hand it to a service provider, wait for a slot, discover in the field that three addresses are wrong, and do the whole thing again.

The bottleneck is rarely the technology. It is somebody else’s calendar.

What you do instead

Connect. BACnet, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP and Climatix are there. Discovery finds the devices and reads out their data points instead of somebody typing them in. Connectivity

Describe once, apply always. A template application describes the device type. It then holds for every plant of that type.

Commission. In series at the factory, with end of line testing and data capture. Guided at the panel in the field, through to the handover record. Factory and field commissioning

Build the interface yourself. The online designer without code, or HVACStudio as a development environment. Both write the same artefact. Your own apps and HMIs

Define alarms yourself. A graphical rule set instead of a script, as a template across groups of plants. Alarm management

Roll out. Over the air updates for panels, approved group by group. Operations and administration

Help from afar. Onto the device over an overlay mesh, with no inbound port in the operator’s network. Granted per device, time limited and logged. A VPN works too, where one is required. Hardware

What changes day to day

Correcting a data point is no longer a drive out, it is an approval. Swapping a device is not a data loss, because the client holds no truth of its own. How it works
